In clinic
For piezosurgical procedures I use ACTEON Piezotome CUBE. Unlike a rotary instrument, its tip does not rotate; it uses controlled ultrasonic micro-oscillations.
This allows delicate work with bone, thinner and more precise cuts, and helps reduce the risk of accidental trauma to adjacent soft tissues.
The unit adapts power to the load, while a continuous irrigating solution cools the tip and surgical area.
A specialised tip creates high-frequency ultrasonic micro-oscillations. They allow gradual, controlled work with mineralised bone without uncontrolled instrument rotation.
At the same time, irrigating solution cools the tip and tissue, flushes away small bone particles and keeps the surgical field cleaner and easier to see.
Ultrasound and fluid also produce a cavitation effect that helps clear small particles from the working area, but this is not sterilisation of the wound.
